After the much successful 'push email', it is now the time to push browser data to the phones; at least that's what the new app for Google's Chrome browser is supposed to do. Subsequent to its launch, questions immediately popped up in the Internet world as to the usability of the app and whether it is a feasible productive app or whether it is a dud. So, far, the reviews across the Internet have been in favor of its usability, some, even swearing by it as a must have app. Installing Chrome to Phone on Samsung Galaxy Tab, for example, as shown in the samsung chrome to phone, video is not such a hassle and once done, provides a great experience.

The Chrome to Phone app works in conjunction with the user's Gmail account and uses it as a link to 'push' the data to the phone. The app transfers data like webpage links, Google Maps links, phone numbers from webpages and YouTube links from the browser to the Android device; and the best part is that it launches the respective application for that link. For example, Google Maps links launch the Google Map app on the phone, YouTube links launch the YouTube app on the phone and the phone numbers pushed directly take the user to the dialer.

These applications make this app extremely useful as many a users find instances where they want the same information that is on the browser, to be on their phone. The Chrome to Phone app makes this a reality by forming this bridge between the Google Chrome or Firefox (via third party extensions) browsers and Android 2.2 + devices.

Installing this app, for example on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, can show its full effectiveness. There are just two phases of the installation, one in the browser and one on the phone.

  1. The user just needs to visit http://chrome.google.com/extensions, search for the Chrome to Phone app and install it by following the instructions. It is essential that the user be logged into his/her Gmail account while doing so.
  2. After successful installation, a Chrome to Phone logo/icon will appear in the right hand side of the browser (toolbar).
  3. To install the app on the Samsung Galaxy Tablet, the user first needs to visit the 'Market', type in 'chrome to phone' in the search, select it from the list and follow the installation procedure.
  4. On successful installation, the user needs to access the app by going into 'Applications' and opening it. On opening, the user needs to click next and enter the Gmail email address they have used.

With that done, the Chrome to Phone app is ready to use and expand the user's productivity.
